RESCUE discovering how the Gospel rescues and redeems us
unit 2: The gospel rescuing me lesson 23: The Rescued Me: A New Citizenship
Dear Parents, Hello again! We’re on week twenty-three of The Rescue, and I’ve loved the conversations that have been happening in our group. I hope your teenager has enjoyed it. This week the lesson was entitled, “The Rescued Me: A New Citizenship,” and it focused on helping students understand that if they have been rescued through faith in Christ, they have been ushered in as citizens of God’s Kingdom. We looked at the following Scripture passages: • John 3:1-3 • Colossians 1:11-14 • 1 Peter 2:11 You’ll enjoy reading these powerful passages that demonstrate how God has rescued us into the kingdom of his Son.
Next Steps . . .
During the next week as you have time to talk with your teenager, remember that one way that will help him or her to understand and apply what he or she has learned is to explain it to someone else. Use the following questions to guide your conversation: • What does it mean to become a citizen in God’s Kingdom? • I s there something in this world that makes you glad that we are really just passing through this world and it isn’t our permanent home? What is it? • W hat is one thing that’s hard to let go of in this world that we know we need to? What about for our family? How can we work on these things together? Thank you for all you do. If you have any questions about anything, please don’t hesitate to call me.
