The 38th annual edition of the world’s greatest marathon takes place on Sunday 22 April 2018 and will require road closures and parking restrictions in your area. More than 41,000 participants will take on the 26.2-mile course, starting at Blackheath, passing through Charlton, Woolwich and Greenwich town centre before leaving the borough as they head towards Deptford. Advance warning signs will be displayed in affected roads in the build up to Race Day and stewards will be present on the day itself to help answer your queries. Roads will be closed from 07:00 and vehicle access to and from your property will not be possible until the roads reopen at approximately 14:00. If you have to leave your property in a vehicle on the day we

suggest you do so before 07:00. Please also note that parking restrictions and vehicle removals will start along the whole of the route at 06:30 on Sunday 22 April. If you own a vehicle, please assist us by parking it off the route on the evening of Saturday 21 April. We appreciate this may cause some inconvenience but hope that this advance warning will mean disruption is minimal and that you will be able to come to watch and enjoy the spectacle. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in helping to make the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon a success. Last year’s event raised a record-breaking £61.5 million for charity, bringing the overall sum raised since the event was founded in 1981 to more than £890 million. With your support, this year’s race is aiming to raise even more.
