On Sunday 24 April 2016 the Virgin Money London Marathon will once again take place. More than 37,000 competitors will take up the challenge to complete the 26.2-mile course from the starts at Blackheath to the Finish Line on The Mall. Roads will close to secure the race route at 07:00, and will include Woolwich Road, Shooters Hill Road, Charlton Way, Charlton Road, Vanbrugh Park, Old Dover Road and St John’s Park. Stewards will reopen the roads as soon as it is safe to do so. Unavoidable resident departures will be possible from the Westcombe Park area as shown on the map overleaf. Crossing points for residents on Woolwich Road will be stewarded. Stewards will assist vehicle movements across the route and/or onto the A102 until 09:00 and will resume once the event has passed at around 11:30 and until the roads re-open fully. The closure point at the top of Maze Hill will open to residents at approximately 11:00 to allow movement along Shooters Hill Road west towards Deptford and Lewisham prior to Shooters Hill Road re-opening fully.
