Rivercrest Elementary Parent Newsletter September 2017 RES School Schedule/Attendance Rivercrest Elementary opens its doors and begins serving breakfast at 7:30 each morning. Students not eating breakfast go to designated areas around the school (playground, gym, etc) until 7:45 when they are taken to the classrooms. Mrs. Gray does Daily Announcements (birthdays, pledges, moment of silence, daily happenings, etc) at 7:50 over the intercom. Once announcements are completed, class begins. Students are considered tardy at 8:05 and will have missed some instruction. Students arriving after 8:15 are counted absent unless they have been to a doctor that day and have a note from the doctor stating so. Dismissal is at 3:15 for PK-2nd grade and 3:30 for 3rd – 5th grade. Students leaving before dismissal will be considered leaving early in regards to perfect attendance. Each quarter a student is allowed up to 3 “tardies” and 3 “leave earlies” without it affecting their perfect attendance status.
Parent Conferences We encourage families to contact teachers with questions and concerns. Teachers are provided daily conference periods for such meetings (phone calls, etc.) Please understand that if you choose to stop by, without making prior arrangements, you may not be able to talk with the teacher. We will not interrupt instruction for impromptu meetings. We will however take your name and number so the teacher can contact you outside of instructional time.
Breakfast with Grands National Grandparents Day is September 10, but Rivercrest Elementary is celebrating early. We will have “Breakfast with Grands” on September 8 from 7:30-8:30 in the morning. We are serving Scrambled Eggs with Bacon, Biscuits, Gravy, Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits, Juice and Milk. Tickets are $4.00 for adults. This event is just for grandparents. We will have other events later in the year for mom, dads, and other family members.
Family Game Night Rivercrest Elementary will host Family Game Night on Monday, September 25 from 5:30-7:00 in the elementary cafeteria. Join us for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship. Free hot dogs and games will be provided for all families. Feel free to bring your favorite game or play one we have available,.
Fundraiser/Donations In lieu of a fundraiser where students and parents are asked to sell items we are asking for donations to the Student Activity Fund. Donations will provide field trips, field trip lunches, incentives, prizes, and other things that we are unable to use state and federal dollars to purchase. Donations are tax deductible and 100% of the money collected will be spent on RES students.
