2017 Freshmen Athletic Orientation The Hamilton Southeastern Athletic Department will host its annual Freshmen Athletic Orientation on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, for all interested seventh & eighth grade student-athletes and their parents. Although the information presented on this evening is intended for the students and parents of the Class of 2021, any junior high studentathlete and parent is welcome and would benefit. The intent of this evening is to make future Royal student-athletes and their parents familiar and comfortable with HSE coaches, facilities, and programs. The Athletic Department will require that all varsity coaches be present. We will encourage assistant coaches and current athletes in each program to be there as well. Some of the topics that will be addressed will include: HSE Athletic Department philosophy Sports offered to student-athletes Introduction of HSE coaches Introduction to the Hoosier Crossroads Conference (HCC) Starting dates for practice Team selection (cuts) Summer weights & conditioning Moratorium week Summer camps Physicals The evening will begin at 6:30 PM with a general session in the HSE Main Cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to park in the South Parking Lot off Olio Road and in the Front Parking Lot. After the opening general session, students and parents will rotate between three information sessions and an opportunity to interact with all HSE head coaches. Coaches will be at tables in the varsity gymnasium with information about their specific teams/program. Many athletes will also be available to answer questions that students or parents may have. The evening will conclude around 8:00 PM. Please call the Hamilton Southeastern Athletic Office (317-594-4196) with any questions. To subscribe to The Royal Report, click here:

IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (3-6-17) "Promoting education based athletics in Indiana" One of the great success stories this year is about a Division III basketball team, Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Their 27-0 record is only part of the story. Their unconventional coach, Eric Bridgeland, is a realist who relates to his players in a unique way. The following quote from USA Today sums up his approach: "If you could wish your team one thing, I would wish they are having a blast and that they don't feel pressure. So that's what we are doing. In our team visualization before every game, we talk about being creative and enthusiastic in handling these awesome situations we get into." Do you visualize success before your game? This may be a key to Whitman's success and yours!
