Coaches Comments from Last Night Girls Track & Field
Royals Win Conference
The Lady Royals Track Team won the 3-day HCC marathon track meet last night. The meet originally scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to Wednesday. After 9 events were completed on Wednesday the final 7 events were postponed to Thursday. Ashley Perry won the long jump after all competitors completed their jumps last night. Lulu Black finished a strong second in the 3200 run and Tayah Irvin tied for second in the high jump. The final team scores were HSE 133.5, Avon 110.25, Zionsville 94.5, Westfield 77.25, Fishers 73.75, Noblesville 71.75, and Brownsburg 47. Royals Defeat Arabians
The #7-ranked boys golf team defeated Pendleton Heights Thursday night at Fall Creek Golf Course. The team was led by junior Jake Hutmacher's even-par 35, followed by junior Alex Bullington's 36 and freshman John Cherry's 38. The team had 3 golfers shoot 40 to round out the scoring. This weekend, varsity team take part in the Sollman Invite at Trophy Club, with the JV hosting the Conference JV Invite at Fox Prairie. Softball The Royals were leading Southport 11-0 when the game was suspended. JV: Royals 9, Southport 0 (game called after 4 innings). Baseball The varsity game with McCutcheon was rained out last night. The JV game at Harrison was cancelled as well.
Alumni Notes Softball The Mid-American Conference announced its 2016 Softball awards and All-MAC teams on Tuesday. For Miami University (Ohio), senior outfielder Taylor Shuey (HSE, 2012) was named MAC Player of the Year. She also was selected First-Team All-MAC. Shuey is the first Miami softball player in school history to be named MAC Player of the Year. It is also her second career All-MAC honor, she earned a spot on the Second Team in 2014. She hit .439 in MAC games, with six home runs and 21 RBI. She had a slugging percentage of .818 and an on-base percentage of .554. Overall, Shuey is hitting .399 on the season with eight home runs and 41 RBIs. Her 41 RBIs are tied for the third-most singleseason in school history, and she has become Miami’s career leader with 109 RBIs in her four years as a RedHawk.
