TODAY’S GAME NOTES The Saint Francis softball team travels to Arizona for Spring Break, beginning the week at the Arizona State Diamond Devil Invitational.

She has 14 hits, including three doubles, three triples and two homers, while driving in 15 runs. Norton currently leads Division I in triples.

The Red Flash plays two games on Saturday, taking on No. 21 Minnesota at Noon and No. 19 Arizona State at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, SFU faces Mount St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. and ASU at 3 p.m.

Kassidy Troxell is batting .364 in nine games, while Sierra McKee is hitting .333 through 11 games and leads the team with 13 runs scored.

The week continues on Wednesday with a doubleheader vs. Grand Canyon, beginning at 2 p.m.

Through 11 games, five freshmen have appeared in at least nine games. Freshmen have combined for 52 of the team’s 85 hits (61 percent) and 37 of 72 runs (51 percent).

The following weekend has SFU scheduled to play in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, beginning on Friday with games against No. 10 James Madison and UTEP. On Saturday, SFU battles Mount St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. and No. 15 Arizona at 6 p.m. Smashing Seneca Sophomore shortstop Jordan Seneca earned the first NEC Player of the Week award this season for her performance through the first two weekends. She leads the team in batting average (.417), hits (15), doubles (4), home runs (3), RBI (16) and slugging percentage (.778).

Scouting the Opponents Arizona State, ranked 19th in the NFCA Poll, is 11-1 so far with a team ERA of 1.40. Taylor Becerra leads the team with a .520 batting average, while Chelsea Gonzales has four home runs and 15 RBI. Minnesota is 21st in the NFCA Poll with a 5-4 mark. They own a win over No. 9 Oklahoma. Sara Groenewegen leads the team with a 2.14 ERA in 36 innings, including a 4-2 record and 52 strikeouts. Mount St. Mary’s makes its 2016 season debut.

Through 11 games, Seneca has five multi-hit performances and four multi-RBI games. She had five RBI in wins over UNC Wilmington and UMass, with homers in both games. She also homered against Eastern Kentucky. Seneca has already topped her home run and RBI totals from the 2015 season. Sophomore Jordan Seneca Newcomers Freshmen made a big impact for the Red Flash in the first two weekends, including Hayley Norton, who was named NEC Rookie of the Week.
