The six players that will be honored are Brooke Baker, Shelby Carnline, Macie Hair, Anna Hernandez, Haley Lemons, and Anne Marie Taylor. • Close, But Not Quite - Texas State has lost 17 games by two runs or less. • One game at a time - Texas State dropped its conference opener three-game series versus UTSA. since then, the Bobcats have improved to 7-8 in the league and are tied for fourth in the conference standings. • Series wins - The Bobcats have earned series victories over Seattle U, Louisiana Tech and UT Arlington. • Here Comes the Boom - Sophomore Courtney Harris has hit three home runs in her career. • Louisiana Classic - The Bobcats finished 2-2 at the Louisiana Classic. Kellie Baker led Texas State at the plate with a batting average of .385 on 5-for-13 hitting. Anna Hernandez added a trio of RBIs and four runs scored to help aid the Bobcat offense. Ashley Wright finished 2-0 in the circle with eight strikeouts in 11.1 innings pitched. • UH Invitational - Texas State softball opened the season at the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic. They finished the tournament 0-5, dropping one game each to Iowa and Lipscomb, and another three to Houston. On the bright side, the Bobcats hit four home runs - that’s five away from last year’s total of nine. Junior outfielder Coralee Ramirez accounted for two of them, giving her the first set of HR’s of her career. Both junior Jordan Masek and freshman Kellie Baker tallied at least one hit in every game for a five-game hitting streak. • On the road again... - The Cats are 8-15 away from Bobcat Field. The last two wins came at UT Arlington, as Texas State captured its third straight conference series. • Home is usually where the heart is - Texas State finished the 2012 season with a home record of 17-1. The Bobcats went 367 calendar days without losing a home game before they fell to North Texas on February 21. The Bobcats are 5-19 so far this season at home. • Against San Jose State This weekend will be the first meeting between Texas State and San Jose State. • The Texas State softball team was picked to win the 2013 Western Athletic Conference title, announced by the league office. The teams were voted on by the WAC softball coaches. The Bobcats received five first-place votes with a total of 43 points. San Jose State was picked to finish second with 42 points had two first-place votes. • The Bobcats received two spots on the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Preseason teams, announced by the league office.

• Senior pitcher Anne Marie Taylor was selected as an All-WAC Preason Team pick. The Houston native, finished the 2012 season with a 17-8 record and 164 strikeouts. • Senior Anna Hernandez was also was selected as an All-WAC Preseason Team pick. The second baseman collected 49 hits her junior year to finish with a .304 batting average. • Texas State head coach Ricci Woodard finished her career in the Southland with the second-most victories and the third-best winning percentage in league history. She enters the 2013 season with more than 400 career victories. She has earned four conference coach of the year honors, while leading her teams to six conference titles, four conference tournament crowns and five NCAA Regional appearances. Woodard’s teams have posted eight 35-plus win seasons, and have never finished below third place in league standings.

[email protected] • Texas State closed out its Southland Conference stint as one of the best teams in league history. The Bobcats left the league with a conference-best six regular season championships, six tournament championships, and six NCAA Championship appearances. Texas State dominated the circle with eight pitcher of the year honors, including five-straight from 2006-2010. The Bobcats have also earned the most player of the year honors than any other school, present or past. In Texas State’s final year in the league, the Bobcats came away with player, pitcher and coach of the year honors. Texas State had a total of six all-conference selections and five all-tournament honorees. The Bobcats went 18-2 in league play to win the regular season, and then went 3-0 to capture the tournament crown for an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championships.
