Phonics/Spelling: The test for list #15 will be on cycle day 6, Thursday. It is a review list. Grammar: We are reviewing apostrophes to show ownership and abbreviations. Reading: The next lesson will be all review. We will discuss fiction vs. non-fiction and author’s Please send in an app purpose. Each reading group will be practicing a reader’s theater. We always try to read fluently, just like we are talking. Writing: We will write to different picture prompts and add dialogue by using quotation marks. Science: We will be investigating which materials magnetism travels through, making a magnet with stroking a nail on a magnet and induction with a nail and magnet. We will also make an electromagnet by using a battery and we will make a compass using a needle. I will be sending a study sheet home to review for our test on Friday. Math: I pushed our chapter 7 test on triple digit subtraction with regrouping to this week. I felt we needed more practice. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts regularly if your child is still counting on fingers or not getting the answer within 3 seconds. Research has shown children who know math facts will do better with harder concepts introduced to them in the intermediate grades.
