September 30, 1999 Mr. Peter M. Whitlock 47644 Forester Road RR#2 Sardis, B.C. Canada V2R IB 1 Dear Peter, Thank you very, very much for the sample newsletter and information sheet on the Whitlock Family Association and for the pieces of information on the Nathan W. and Julina BurchWhitlock family. It appears to me that no one else you have heard from to this point knows any more than we do. It does seem that the Internet has not solved all our genealogy dead-end questions ....not by a long shot. Well, if we knew it all, where would the fun be? You requested a lineage chart trom me so I will send you what I know beginning with Nathan's wife, Julina Burch's, grandfather. I am starting with him because he was trom Surry Co., North Carolina and I know there were Whitlocks up in Surry. I still think the families of Nathan and Julina may have known each other in the early days before those two were ever born. Revolutionary Soldier: William Burch d Jan. 2, 1844 m Judith Winfrey (daughter of Isaac Winfrey, also of Surrey) d Sept. 28, 1848 Judith applied for a Rev. soldier's widow's pension so we have proof of her father and her husband trom that. In a book about the Burch family written by a Mrs. Smallwood, she gives a list of the children on William and Judith one of whom is Jesse W.D. Burch. Jesse W.D. Burch (son of William and Judith Winfrey Burch) was b about 1794 in No. Car. (census) He was a soldier in the War of 1812 trom Surry Co., N.Car. His wife was Sarah (Sally) but we don't know her maiden name. She was born about 1794 in N.Car. They came to Floyd Co., GA between about 1832 and 1834 where he was a justice ofthe Inferior Court trom Feb. 1, 1838 to Jan. 14, 1841. Their daughter, Julina, married Nathan W. Whitlock. Julina Burch (daughter of Jesse and Sarah Burch) b 1825 in No.Car. m August 11, 1840 Nathan W. Whitlock in Floyd Co., GA. Birth date is trom family records and marriage date trom county records. Nathan was born in 1817 in S.Car., the son of James and Betsy Whitlock whom he said on the 1880 census were born in S.Car. Since he knew them only as a child, we may take that S.Car. birth date for them with a grain of salt. One of Julina and Nathan's youngest children was Eugenia Josephine Whitlock. Eugenia Josephine Whitlock (Josie) was born in Floyd Co., GA on Aug. 4, 1860~nd died on April 27, 1949 in Calif. She is buried at the Alma, Ark. cemetery. She married John Calvin Love (b 6-29-1853 in Gordon Co., GA the son of Uriah and Caroline Roney Love

and died 6-13-1919 and is buried in Alma, Ark) One of their sons was James Walter Love. James Walter Love, son of John Calvin and Eugenia Josephine Whitlock Love, was born in Alma, Ark. on Dec. 22, 1879 and died on September 4, 1939 in EI Paso, TX where he is buried. He married in Crawford Co., Ark, Lydia Lelia Fine (daughter of John and Mary Ann Van Hoose Fine) Lydia was born in Ark. on June 30, 1881 and died in EI Paso, TX on April 2, 1963. One of their daughters was Irene Love. Sybil Irene Love was born Dec. 23, 1904 at Alma, Ark.and died Oct. 13, 1997 in Oceanside, CA. She is buried in EI Paso, TX. She married July 10, 1895, Wyatt Richards, (son of Wyatt Bassell Richards and Ellen Josephine Walden) born Nov. 13, 1896 in Okla and died May 19, 1959 and was buried in EI Paso, TX One of their sons was Clifford James Richards. Clifford James Richards was born July 27, 1826 in EI Paso, TX He married on July 26, 1952, Sarah Eugenia Johnson (daughter of John Henry and Louise Parmele Johnson) They have one daughter, Sarah (Sally) Richards. Sarah (Sally) Walton Richards, daughter of above, was born on Dec. 9, 1957 in Houston, TX She married on 27th of June, 1981 to Michael David (Dave) Hunter (son of Ripley H. and Carolyn Sanders Hunter). They have two children, David Hayes Hunter b Dec. 5, 1985, and Sarah Walton Hunter b on June 3, 1990, both in Austin, TX.

I am including a copy of a family group sheet on Nathan W. Whitlock's children done by another member of the family and a copy of the Goodspeed reference on Nathan Whitlock which is the only material I have ever seen on his ancestry. He was alive evidently when the article was written so it must be true as far as it goes. There are several James Whitlocks in Union Co., S.Car. in 1820 so I suppose his father could be one of them. I don't think we'll ever know. Thank you again for your packet. I am including $10.00 for a subscription. Sincerely yours, Eugenia Richards Mrs. Clifford 1. Richards 4210 N.
