Welcome To Fifth Street Presbyterian Church We gather today to hear God speak in the reading and preaching of His Word. And, we gather to respond to His voice in our songs, prayers, and affirmations. In this ordinary worship of God we find extraordinary grace, encouragement and reason to hope. This corporate worship of God is the most important thing that happens upon the earth and we are delighted to have you with us as we approach the Father in Christ’s name by the power of the Holy Spirit.

ANNOUNCEMENTS August 6, 2017 Our Quarterly Luncheon is today following the Morning Worship. We have scheduled this time as a means of promoting fellowship within our church. Please join us for lunch and enjoy visiting with you brothers and sisters in Christ. As you pray please remember: Doug Shepherd—MTW, Ukraine Gideons International Westminster Presbyterian of Gainsville (PCA) Powledge Unit Bible Study Dear Fifth Street Friends, I want to say thanks to all who helped me during my recent move. To the ones who loaded and un-loaded boxes, wrapped dishes, delivered my pot plants from my other house, loaded and delivered furniture to a consignment store, and put things on shelves that were too high for me to reach. I also want to thank those who prayed for me as I made this transition. I will be forever grateful. Love in Christ, Pat Turman We continue to remember Luther’s historic 95 Theses 500 years ago by including Luther quotes in Sunday’s announcements. This week we have two addressing the topic of repentance. A penitent heart is a rare thing and a great grace; one cannot produce it by thinking about sin and hell. Only the Holy Spirit can impart it. In order to do so, man must first be brought to an awareness of his sin and guilt, says Luther in his exposition of Ps 110:4. –Martin Luther
If you are visiting today, we would appreciate a record of your visit, which you can provide by filling out one of the visitor’s cards that you will find in the pew. Please place the card in the offering plate. Thank you!
Where sin and God’s wrath are not known or felt, men cannot come to repentance or to the forgiveness of sin. Therefore Christ, too, and the apostles began with the preaching of repentance, thereby confirming the preaching of the Law. And for this reason the Law had to precede this Priest Christ, and Moses and his priests had to impress it deeply on his people in order to prepare them for Christ. –Martin Luther
