South Camberley Primary and Nursery School - Redwood Campus Newsletter 2 ~ Autumn Term “We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.” Dear Parents Scooters and Bikes Please help us to keep everybody safe in school grounds by ensuring children do not ride scooters or bikes on school grounds. A reminder that if your child rides a bicycle or scooter to school independent of an adult they are required to wear a helmet. Blogging Children now have their passwords to use the school’s blogging system. It is a safer way for the children to experience social media. Please, as parents, take the opportunity to discuss how to stay safe when using social media to support the work we do on e-safety at school. It is important children know how to use social media responsibly. All blogs are checked by the class teacher before being posted publicly. Year 3 Trip to Marwell On Thursday 1st October Year 3 went to Marwell Zoological Park, near Winchester as their first trip of the school year. The trip supported our current topic of extreme habitats and allowed the children to see animals from the hot savannah regions and cold polar regions. The penguins put on an amazing show for us, diving and leaping out of the water at speed which delighted the children. We were all in awe of the extremely beautiful snow leopards. The weather was perfect and allowed us to sit on the grass next to the enclosures to enjoy our lunch before visiting the education centre to learn more about some of the animals and have a chance to get hands on; touching a giant stick insect and stroking a boa constrictor! A great day was had by all and the children were extremely well behaved. Healthy Eating A reminder that the school has a ‘no sweets’ policy. If parents want to provide something on their child’s birthday we encourage the purchase of a book instead of sweets for the class.
Harvest Our Harvest Festival will be held at St Mary’s Church on Monday 12th October. If you can spare something from your food cupboard, dried food or cans, please send your child to school with it on Monday morning to take to the church. Photographs The photographer will be in school on Tuesday 13th October. Sibling groups will be done at Redwood Campus at 8:30am.
