Purpose • Provide a parts list and assembly instructions for a holder for the spool described below. Revised 1/26/2013 for newer Solidoodle 2 lb spools that are now 5.75” long vs previous 4.75” long. • This spool holder fits a filament spool with the following dimensions – – – –
Parts List • All plumbing refers to 1” PVC pipe and slip fit fittings • (1) PVC pipe 1” ID by at least 30” total length – 1.323” OD (approximately 1 5/16” OD) – Cut the pipe into the following pieces: • (3) 8” long pieces • (3) 1 ¾” long pieces
• (3) 1”, 90°elbows (slip fit, not threaded) • (3) 1” end caps (slip fit) • (1) 1” tee (slip fit) • (1) can of PVC cement (I used clear color) – Note PVC cement sets quickly, so align parts quickly

Make A Foot Sub-Assembly • Make a foot sub-assembly – Cement one end cap to a 8” long piece of pipe – Cement one 90°elbow to other end of the 8” pipe – Cement one 1 ¾” long piece of pipe to the elbow • Repeat so that you have two foot sub-assemblies 90°elbow

Assemble The Spindle Arm • Make a the spindle arm sub-assembly – Cement one 90°elbow to a 8” long piece of pipe – Cement one 1 ¾” long piece of pipe to the other end of the elbow 90°elbow

Trial Fit Everything Together • Practice aligning parts before actually cementing it all together. • Push feet flat on table to align • Adjust spindle arm so it is parallel to the feet and horizontal.

DO NOT cement end cap to Spindle Arm Assembly. It needs to be removable to install spool.

Final Assembly • Pull the foot assemblies off the tee • Apply cement to foot assemblies, then quickly align everything again • Pull the spindle arm assembly off the tee • Apply cement to the foot assemblies, then quickly align everything again • DO NOT cement the end cap to the spindle arm
