BOX CONTENTS Garlic Sweet Onions Sweet Peppers Green Bell Peppers Brussels Sprouts Tops Shallot Eggplant Zucchini/Summer Squash Roma Tomatoes Cucumbers Salsa Verde Kit(tomatillos, onion, garlic, jalapeno, cilantro)

Hello and welcome to week 16 of your Sprouting Acres CSA share. We are back to summer weather! Which is fitting since it’s still summer. The tomatoes are going crazy so get ready to make something with tomatoes this weekend. The peppers are also huge, colorful, and delicious. We are putting another salsa verde kit in the box again this week. We love it with chips, in eggs, on chicken, pork, all over enchiladas, pretty much on anything. Don’t forget to grill, roast, or saute the ingredients to add more flavor. The purple ones are smaller, sweeter, and can be sliced in salads raw too! Construction update: We poured the cement slab for the new(used) walk in cooler with a lot of help from some friends. Thanks Doug and Jim! The cooler goes up on Friday and the old one gets knocked down this weekend to make way for the front porch of the new shed! We have a level site and still waiting on one permit from the township before it goes up. Andy will have plenty of work over the winter insulating it, wrapping it in 2x4’s, building walls and filling up the kitchen. We will keep you posted with pictures this winter. We are getting excited! The Brussels sprouts have to have the tops taken off and they are delicious so they are in the boxes this week. We like to roll them up and slice them thinly, then saute with olive oil, onion and garlic, some bacon too if you’re into that. They have to be topped so the sprouts on the stalk fill out quicker, otherwise we are picking in November and that doesn’t work for CSA. We have some years where they plump up quickly and others where it seems like it takes weeks. We have just four more boxes this season which means the EOW shares have two more. We hope you have enjoyed the season so far and would love to have you back next year! Thanks and have a great weekend!
