Hello and welcome to week 20 of your Sprouting Acres CSA share. This is the LAST csa delivery of the season! Please make sure you return any boxes or totes to the pickup sites so we can get them picked up before winter. We had a pretty wet spring and summer with a dry fall until now. We are pretty muddy at the farm right now which is okay except, we decided to get one more load of gravel to finish the area around the back of the shed area and the cooler. Well, the dump truck driver decided not to drop it where I gave him the thumbs up but backed up even more and sunk in pretty deep. It took them four hours to get it out. They also broke one cable, one pipe on the bottom of another dump truck, and blew up a radiator hose on the truck that was stuck. I thought I was having a bad day. These guys had it much worse. We stayed out of their way and they got the gravel dumped, just four hours later than planned! The Brussels sprouts are plumping up and the tomatoes are coming to an end. The kale bounced back after all the rain and some fertilizer and the peppers are still going strong. We were able to harvest a little cauliflower this week and finished cutting the big broccoli heads. We will get some smaller broccoli side shoots over the next few weeks as long as the weather holds. Our fall potatoes that we usually order were not ready in time because of all the rain they have been getting. They just started harvesting this week which left us no time for getting them shipped to us. We hope the weather next season will be nice to all the farmers around the state but we take what we get. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us this year with your membership. We have had a crazy year with all the construction going on, all the rain, weeds, tractors breaking, trucks and vans breaking, sore backs, summer colds(there should be no such thing), and all the other things that we put up with year after year. Hopefully next season we at least get a break on some of the vehicle repairs since we can’t really do much about the weather. Don’t forget, we are going to throw a spring party in the new building to make up for the cancelled fall party this year so don’t forget to check your email this winter for that date. Have a great weekend and have a great winter! Sprouting Acres mailing address: 116 N. Morris St. Stoughton, WI 53589 Thanks and have a great weekend! Our email:
