About the Dutchwomen

About the Saints

• After finishing the 2015-16 season without a win, Union already has two victories so far this season under first-year head coach Josh Sciba. The Dutchwomen, however, have struggled of late, losing their last seven games.

• The Saints are one of three NCAA Division I women’s hockey teams that has yet to lose a game this season and are unbeaten through 11 games for the first time since 2005, when they were 9-0-2 through 11 games and remained unbeaten through 14 (120-2). The last time St. Lawrence was unbeaten for a stretch of 11 games was a 10-0-1 run from Dec. 1, 2006 Jan. 26, 2007.

• During the recent skid, Union has scored just six goals in seven games, netting more than one in just one game. • The Ducthwomen fell to Clarkson by a 5-1 score yesterday and are still in search of their first point in ECAC Hockey play. Katelynn Russ scored the lone goal of the game for Union on the power play. Kate Spooner made 39 saves for Union, which was outshot 44-21. • Haley Shugart leads the Dutchwomen with five goals and seven points. Emily Erickson and Caitlyn McLaren both have two goals and three assists. • All three of Union’s goaltenders have seen significant action this season, with Spooner (2.69 GAA, .917 save percentage) playing roughly half of the team’s minutes. - St. Lawrence University Quick Facts -

• The Saints are 5-0-0 in ECAC Hockey play for the first time since 2012. That team lost its sixth conference game, 6-4, to Quinnipiac. • The Saints beat Rensselaer 4-1 yesterday, with Kennedy Marchment scoring a goal and adding two assists. She leads the Saints with 14 assists and 21 points, while Brooke Webster, who had a goal and an assist yesterday, leads the team eight goals. • Grace Harrison, who has played every minute in net for the Saints so far this season, gets this afternoon off, as Brooke Wolejko will start her first game of the season.

About Head Coach Chris Wells ’92

The Union Series

• Wells returned to his alma mater as assistant hockey coach for the men’s team in the 1999-2000 season after a stint behind the bench at Western Michigan University in the CCHA. He was named Associate Head Coach of the men’s hockey team in January of 2003.

• St. Lawrence has a near perfect record in 26 meetings with Union. The Saints enter the weekend with a 24-0-2 mark against the Dutchwomen, including two wins last year. The Saints have averaged 5.1 goals in games against Union while allowing an average of 0.7.

• He took over the reins of the St. Lawrence University women’s hockey team for the 2008-09 season. He guided the team to the 2009 NCAA Tournament and a 24-113 record, and three years later, led the team to its first ECAC Hockey Tournament title and was named the 2012 AHCA National Coach of the Year.

• The last time Union tied St. Lawrence was a 1-1 result in Schenectady on Feb. 6, 2015.

• Wells began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Colgate University following a European professional career. He has also served the University as director of the St. Lawrence summer sports programs and a co-director of the Saints Summer Hockey School.

Webster Extends Point Streak to 14 Games • Brooke Webster extended her point streak to 14 games with a goal and an assist in the Saints’ 4-1 win over Rensselaer last night. The last team to keep Webster off the score sheet was Princeton in the first ECAC Hockey quarterfinal on Feb. 26, 2016. • Webster has eight goals in 11 games this season. She led the team with 12 goals in 37 games last year, and is currently on pace to score 23 goals this year.

Streaking Saints Can Thank Stingy Defense • Since a 3-3 tie with Clarkson on Oct. 8, the Saints have run off seven straight victories. During that run, St. Lawrence has allowed a total of just four goals with three shutouts. No opponent has scored more than one goal during the streak. • While Grace Harrison has been great in goal, the Saints’ defense has also limited opportunities for their opponents. The Saints have allowed just 20.9 shots per game. • St. Lawrence’s penalty kill is ranked third nationally (.929) with just three power play goals allowed and two shorthanded goals scored.
