About the Saints
• Vermont opened the season with two straight wins, defeating Union 5-1 and Boston University 3-2, then went 0-1-1 in a two-game series at Robert Morris.
• The Saints, are one of just four NCAA Division I women’s hockey teams that has yet to lose a game this season, other than the Ivy League teams, which open play this weekend.
• The Catamounts went 9-25-3 last season, but had a solid finish to the season, going 3-4-1 in February, including a 4-2 win over Boston University in the quarterfinal round of the Hockey East playoffs.
• The Saints have started the season with a four-game unbeaten streak for the first time since 2011-12, when they were also 3-0-1 through four games. The Vermont Series
• Wells returned to his alma mater as assistant hockey coach for the men’s team in the 1999-2000 season after a stint behind the bench at Western Michigan University in the CCHA. He was named Associate Head Coach of the men’s hockey team in January of 2003.

In his opening campaign, Wells continued the program’s tradition of winning, as he guided the team to the 2009 NCAA Tournament and a 24-11-3 record. He guided the program to it’s first ECAC Hockey Tournament title and was named the 2012 AHCA National Coach of the Year. • Wells began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Colgate University following a European professional career. He has also served the University as director of the St. Lawrence summer sports programs and a co-director of the Saints Summer Hockey School.
