2nd November 2015 Dear Parents / Carers, Welcome back after half term. We are looking forward to another wonderful term at St Michael’s where the liturgical season of advent will soon be upon us as well as a busy calendar of school events. After School Clubs The children that attended sporting clubs until 4.15pm last half term will continue until the end of this term. Unfortunately, Internet Homework Club cannot continue this half term due to on-going server issues. Dance Club will run for the first 5 weeks of this half term and payment of £10 is now due. Look out for a letter later in the term outlining the options for clubs from January 2016 where we hope to enlist some gymnastic coaches on a Tuesday after school. Please let your child’s class teacher or Mr McGinn know if your child would like to attend these coaching sessions. We estimate the cost to be around £2.50 per week which will enable us to employ 2 additional coaches in the hope of entering a gymnastics competition in March. Parents are also reminded that the daily after school care club and breakfast clubs are available to book children into on a daily, weekly or rota basis to help parents with child care. Please contact staff in the Moon Room before or after school or via 07486279943 to help you with any enquiries. Inter Schools Book Quiz Good luck to our Book quiz team as they begin competing against schools across the city this week. Poppy Appeal Poppies will be in sale this week priced at 20p. The Royal British Legion have also produced 50p key rings and £1 friendship bracelets, snap rulers and other Poppy Appeal items which will also be on sale this week. Y6 helpers will visit each class daily to sell the items. Local Deanery Catholic Schools Candlelit Carol Service The annual carol service will be held at our parish church on Tuesday 15th December at 7pm. Children do not have to be members of the school choir to attend or take part and all are welcome. A letter will shortly be issued with a reply slip for the carol service that we urge parents to return to enable us to plan singing and instrument options. We thank you in advance for your support.

Parking Please may I remind all parents not to drive through or park in Telford Gardens. Please use the ample parking nearby and walk the final part of the journey to prevent our local residents becoming upset when their driveways and roads are blocked. Families arriving late are also parking outside of our academy so that children can run in unattended while parents watch from the car. This is unsafe for your children but also unsafe for other children and families who may be crossing the driveway or cul-de-sac outside our academy on their way home. Children can enter the main door from 8.45am and are late once the 8.55 bell is rung, please leave enough time each morning to ensure children arrive safely.
