Dear Parents It is very pleasing to be able to tell you that new permanent appointments have been made to the leadership of our Academy. Mrs Joanne Hanslip, who is currently the very experienced Principal of SS Mary and John Catholic Primary Academy, has accepted the post of Executive Head; from September 1st she will lead both St Michael’s and SS Mary and John’s and will share her time and her skills equally between them. Mrs Hanslip has previously supported St Michael’s and I am sure you will join me in welcoming her to her new role. Mrs Hanslip will be available to introduce herself to parents on 7th July during our open evening. St Michael’s will also continue to benefit from the very able input of Mrs McHale, whose resolute and determined approach to improving provision for your children was highlighted in the recent Ofsted report. Mrs McHale has been appointed to the new post of Head of School at St Michael’s. Mrs McHale will continue to play a key part in leading St Michael’s, and will manage the day to day work of the Academy. SS Mary and John will similarly have a Head of School. Mrs Bradley will also take on a new role, that of Assistant Principal, from September 1st. She will be responsible for RE and Catholicity across all the primary academies within the Bishop Cleary Catholic Multi Academy Company. In addition Mrs Dawes, currently at SS Mary and John, will be an Assistant Principal, with responsibility for curriculum and standards of teaching and learning at St Michael’s and SS Mary and John. I am confident these new appointments will further strengthen St Michael’s present position as a good Catholic school and indeed will bring about accelerated progress towards every aspect of its work being outstanding. Yours sincerely
Rosalie Watkins Chair of St Michael’s Academy Committee
