Summer Hockey Rules Social Mixed Grade The Social Mixed Grade is for any person who is looking for an enjoyable sport to play in the summer. No prior hockey experience is needed, anyone can make up a team so it’s a great chance to have a social game and get your friends involved or anyone looking for something fun to do in the sun. Normal FIH Hockey 5’s rules apply with the following clarifications and additions; 

Games will be played on a half turf at NHS, Fraser and Elsdon. There are no outs in Hockey 5’s, unless the ball goes over the boards and out of play



Teams can register as many players as they wish, they don’t need to be a registered with a club/team. Minimum age is 16



5 players are permitted to be on the field at any one time. Minimum of 2 females on the field at any one time, maximum of 2 Premier or Rep players on the field at any one time.



30 minute non stop game



A team may score anywhere on the field, including directly from a free hit; Inside the 11m = 3 point Outside the 11m = 1 point



There are no penalty corners, instead a free hit from the 11m area as marked on the turf



No hitting—Players must have their hands apart to push, slap or push the ball



Competition points; Win = 3 points, Draw = 1 point, Loss = 0 points

Please keep in mind that any grade is subject to the amount of registrations. We ideally want to play Social Mixed at all locations. All teams will be informed of any significant changes before the start date. Wellington Hockey will loan out hockey sticks for the tournament to anyone who hasn't got their own. These will be available on game night. Block 1 starts the week beginning 24th of October - 12th December (Closing date Friday 14th October)
