May 2, 2013

The 7th grade class has been studying about populations and communities the past several weeks in science class. They were given a project to choose an animal that was native to this area and research how its affected in our region. Then the students put together presentations and set up stations around the room for their peers and parents to view. Awesome job, students!

Kathryn Sild Kathryn Elizabeth Sild

has been a student at Texoma Christian School for the past fifteen years - since Preschool Three. While at TCS, she has participated in basketball, volleyball, tennis, track, TAPPS Academics History, Student Council, National Honor Society, PAC art club and has been a teacher’s aide to Mrs. Kusch’s second grade class this past year. Outside of her TCS activities, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outside, playing tennis, running, all sports and reading. Some of Kathryn’s favorite memories of her days at TCS include being a part of the awesome basketball team and winning three State Championships, going to London this past Spring Break, the Eighth Grade Washington, D.C. trip, being a teacher’s aide to the wonderful TCS second graders in Mrs. Kusch’s class and making lifetime friends. There have been several teachers who have been influential in Kathryn’s life. She said, “History teacher, Mr. Erik Krotz, is a great teacher. He makes everyone work hard in his class, but he also makes History interesting. Former English teacher, Mrs. Marjorie Landrum, taught me how to be a better English student, and I really enjoyed having her. Go Thunder! :) Former English teacher, Mrs. Sandy Truly, always kept English fun with her sense of humor. She taught me a lot. Also, Coach Mark Ellison, has been an amazing coach. Not only did he teach me how to be a better athlete on the basketball court, but he taught me valuable life lessons as well. ” Other people who have had a positive impact on Kathryn are her parents, John and Renea Sild. She said they have always been great Godly examples in her life and instilled in her discipline, organization and hard work. She doesn’t know where she would be without them behind her. Her sister, Caroline has always had her back. Kathryn can count on her for anything. Also, her grandparents, Tom and Lynda Ayers and Jackie and the late Charles Sild are very special. Daddy Tom introduced and encouraged a love for tennis in her, and MeMe has always been her biggest cheerleader. Kathryn enjoyed hearing her yell her “whoot whoots” on the basketball court and is looking forward to still hearing them on the sidelines of the tennis court. Nana and Pop have always been her biggest prayer warriors. After graduation, Kathryn will be attending Oklahoma Baptist University. She will play tennis and plans to major in Exercise Physiology. Eventually she would like to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. She would also like to get certified in Personal Training as well. Kathryn’s advice to future high school seniors is, “Apply to the colleges you would like to attend EARLY. It helps to know where you have been accepted and makes decisions easier. Do not get lazy your senior year because it will come back to bite you later, especially when it comes to filling out scholarship applications. Lastly, enjoy your senior year! Make memories and spend time with your classmates because next year everyone will go their own way. Also, remember that as seniors, you are the leaders of the school, and like it or not, lots of people look up to the Senior Class, so set good Christian examples.”
