Reading Sufficiency Folders:  Each student K-3 is required to have a RED RSA folder (red construction paper folder).  LPS Student Profile Card with updated data. (Notate month and year etc. 08/16).  Assessment sheets for phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, spelling, and comprehension.  For phonological awareness and phonics assessments, document attempts for mastery.  Reading Sufficiency Plan/Academic Progress Plan if applicable.  If students transfer within the district insure the appropriate information is in the folder for the next teacher to use for their instruction.  If students move out of district send a copy of the assessment information, APP, L.K. Form, Probationary Promotion and/or Retention Letter to the receiving school but keep the original Red Folder at the sending site.  New students need to be assessed within the first 3 days of attendance.  Each Good Cause Exemption/Committee Mtg. Probationary Promotion 4th grade student will have an ongoing Red Folder Test Documentation: Phonological Awareness Assessment:  Check box if given a correct response, notate date of attempt or mastery. Phonics Assessment:  Slash (/) if student has given a correct response (Instructions Pg. 10 of Phonics Booklet).  Notate date of attempt if student has not given the correct number of response for mastery.

Reading Sufficiency - RSA Assessments Time Line Back to School Assessments o Back-to-School Assessment: August 22 – September 1 o Phonological Awareness o Phonics o Fluency (Do Not assess if student has not shown mastery of PA and Phonics first grade skills. Includes List’s A & B of High Frequency Words) o Spelling (K & First give Primary List; Second and Fifth begin with Elementary List. Goal of Spelling Inventory is to test until 5 to 6 words are spelled incorrectly) o Comprehension, Vocabulary – Assessed with STAR o Use the Literacy First “On Grade Level Criteria” sheet to identify Reading Sufficiency students. (Year Begin) On-going Assessments  Phonological and phonics assessments are on-going (Update hard cards) Assess, teach, review, review, practice, practice, assess o August 22 – September 1 o November 7-14 o January 4-20 o February 13-17 o March 20-24 o April 24 – May 5  Fluency, Spelling, Comprehension, Vocabulary o 3 times a year (update hard cards) o Fall – August 22 – September 1 o Winter – January 4 - 20 o Spring – April 24 – May 5 Using the data to drive our instruction  August 22 -Use back-to-school assessments identify Reading Sufficiency students and to make instructional decisions for interventions and small group instruction.  Teach skills, review, review, practice, practice; assess students who are ready for mastery. Then reorganize small groups as needed.  January 20 – check “On Grade Level Criteria” (Mid-Year) – add any new students to RSA/APP plan  Teach skills, review, review, practice, practice; assess students who are ready for mastery. Then reorganize small groups as needed.  May 5 – check “On Grade Level Criteria” (Year End) for student who have met goals for RSA plans
