The Farmers’ Museum Junior Livestock Show Chobani Agricultural Leader Scholarships

Scholarships Overview At Chobani, we believe that How Matters, especially when it comes to agricultural practices. That’s why we are excited to recognize young leaders whom we believe embody the How Matters spirit. The Farmers’ Museum’s Chobani Agricultural Leader Scholarships are for youth who demonstrate a passion for agriculture, animals and farming and will be participating at this year’s 67th Annual Junior Livestock Show. This person must also display an excitement to expand their existing knowledge on the processes of farming and leadership. Senior Scholarships These scholarships will be awarded to participants, age 15-18. It is designed to help advance a youth’s path to becoming local farmers and encourage leadership skills, personal growth and practical knowledge through further education, the purchase of new equipment or livestock, or other agricultural training opportunities. All youth between the ages of 15-18 are encouraged to submit a 300-500 word essay answering the following questions. Feel free to be creative! 1.) Character: What are the personal qualities that a successful farmer needs to possess? 2.) Leadership: How would you describe the quality of your work and what can you do to improve the quality of the agricultural industry’s work? 3.) Impact: What impact does agriculture have on the world around you, including land, animals and people? 4.) Spirit: As a young farmer, how do you plan to overcome future challenges you might face in the agricultural industry? Junior Scholarships These scholarships will be awarded to participants, age 8-14. This scholarship is designed to help youth grow as farmers, whether it is further education, a startup farm, purchasing a first animal or attending an agricultural camp. All Junior Livestock Show participants between the ages of 8-14 are encouraged to submit a 200-250 word essay answering the following questions. Feel free to be creative! 1. Passion: Why is farming important to you? 2. Respect: Why is having respect for the land and livestock important on a farm? 3. Knowledge: What are three elements of farming you would like to learn more about? The Scholarship Awards The scholarship recipients will be determined by representatives of the awards committee consisting of representatives from the Junior Livestock Show and Chobani. Two $350 scholarships (Seniors) and two $150 scholarships (Juniors) will be presented to the winners on the final day of the Junior Livestock Show as part of the Parade of Champions awards ceremony on Tuesday July 8th.
