The Vestry Meeting Wednesday, August 23, 2017 St. James House Present: Evan Abood, Susan Benson, Eric Blake, Michelle Dayton, Sherry Gillespie, Tim Linn, Barbara Saunders, Kathy Shesky, Martha Staley, and Jane Ellen Wiles. Others in attendance: Father Rob Willmann, Mindy Rush, Recorder, Kelly Miller and Susan Riis, guests. Absent: Eleanor Bailey, Treasurer and Bob Welsh Opening Prayer: Evan Abood opened the meeting at 7:00 with a prayer Approval of Agenda: Eric Blake made a motion to accept the agenda as written. Michelle Dayton seconded the motion. Motion was carried. Approval of Minutes: Barbara Saunders made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Susan Benson seconded the motion. Motion was carried. Rector’s Report: The Rector’s oral report consisted of these points: 1. Everything at St. James seems to be in place for his sabbatical 2. Shuts in/home visits are being attended to. Additional Comments: Wishes for a restorative and restful sabbatical were given to Fr. Willmann. The Senior Warden’s Report: Evan Abood, Senior Warden oral report consisted of: 1. On September 15th Vestry will be receiving information from Michelle Dayton’s discernment committee. The Vestry, at that time, will need to make a decision on her discernment. The Junior Warden’s Report: Barbara Saunders’ oral Junior Warden Report consisted of: 1. Tim Linn will be looking at the north hallway to determine its needs, but he needs a key. The Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Eleanor Bailey’s written report consisted of: 1. We are doing well financially with expenses being in line Susan Benson made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Martha Staley seconded the motion. Motion carried. Administrator’s Report: Mindy Rush’s written report contained a letter of request from Janet Stewart. Mrs. Stewart has requested to borrow teapots from St. James for use by Zanesville’s Concert Association.

Additional Comments Discussion occurred as to possible ways to accommodate Mrs. Stewart’s request. The Vestry’s final determination was, that as it has in the past, to uphold the “no item may be removed from the building” clause Committee Reports: No committee reports Old Business: Kelly Miller presented information regarding updating stored pews so that they may be used in the Chapel. The cost of this project is $6796.00. It was suggested to ask the capital campaign if this is something they might be able to do. Mindy Rush will follow up on this request via email to Janet Stewart and Tom Ischy, co-chairs of the capital campaign. New Business: Michelle Dayton asked for the Vestry’s consideration on assisting financially with her discernment process. Sherry Gillespie informed the Vestry that Ray Gillespie was recuperating at Sterling Suites, room number 210.
