The trail starts in Wild Rose Park. Hike south into the canyon and the trail splits quickly. Keep left taking Wild Rose Loop Trail. Near the top of Wild Rose is a junction for Sunset Point. Stay right heading toward the pipeline scar. At the pipeline is a trail post for “Eagle Ridge to City Creek Ridgeline,” take that heading left. When the trail opens, stay to the right. You begin the steepest section of the ridgeline loop. At 1.9 miles you arrive at the junction and ridgeline. Catch your breath and enjoy the leisurely ridge hike to City Creek Canyon overlook. At 2.5 miles you come to an unused dirt road, stay left for the main dirt road overlooking City Creek Canyon. At the road, keep right and find a great lunch view. After lunch, take the first dirt road that heads southwest over the pipeline scar. You can go around a section of the pipeline making your hike less steep. Watch for trails on the left going around. The trail eventually crosses back over the pipeline for Wild Rose Park.
