TIMBER BRIDGE MAINTENANCE Information Sheet IS-03 August 2014
Information Sheet Purpose This Information Sheet has been produced to provide a ready reference guide to assist bridge asset managers. The Roads & Transport Directorate’s Bridge Working Party reviewed currently available documentation and decided to provide a single source reference to available publications rather than to attempt the researching and publication of an additional, similar resource. Each of the State Road Authorities has a publically available guide covering bridge management. Our investigation confirmed that the RMS (NSW) and Vicroads publications adequately cover the range of issues that Public Works Managers in NSW are likely to encounter. Both of these road authorities have developed their manuals to deal with similar environments to the NSW road and bridge environment. The remainder of this Information Sheet will outline the contents of available documents including the web addresses from which electronic versions of the manuals can be downloaded.
Vicroads: Road Structures Inspection Manual (2014) The Vicroads Road structures inspection manual consists of three parts covering the full range of roadside structures. The parts cover Policy Development, Inspection Procedures and Condition Rating.
