Dear Parent/Guardian, This letter contains information for the fall administration of the AIMS Tests. Students in the State of Arizona are required to pass the AIMS Tests to graduate from high school. Students have five (5) opportunities to earn a “meets” or “exceeds” on the writing, reading, and math tests. The first opportunity to take these tests is during the spring semester of their sophomore year. Any junior or seniors who has not previously earned a “meets” or “exceeds” on the AIMS Writing, Reading, and/or Math tests is required to attend the testing session(s) listed below. Testing The AIMS tests will be administered on the following dates: Tuesday, October 23 AIMS Writing
Wednesday, October 24 AIMS Reading
Thursday, October 25 AIMS Math
There is no make-up for this administration of the AIMS tests. It is critical that students not meeting the AIMS requirement on any or all of the AIMS tests attend these testing sessions. Any junior or senior who has already earned a “meets” on a test has the option to re-take the test to “exceed”. Students wanting to re-take any or all tests to “exceed” must register in the Guidance Office by Friday, October 5, 2012. The Arizona Department of Education website, www.azed.gov , has information regarding study guides to help your child target his or her specific areas of deficiency.
Transportation Buses will pick students who are taking a test up at their regular bus stop and pick up time. All freshmen and sophomores and non-testing juniors and seniors will attend school each of these days. Their school day will begin at 1:05. Buses will pick up non-testing students at their regular bus stop 4 1/2 hours after their regular pick up time.
