Trebol Soccer Club Family Newsletter Spring 2014
Dear Trebol Families, Welcome to Spring 2014 soccer; like every other spring, get your sunscreen ready, and your winter coats! We are now well under way and I want to thank all of our parents for the efforts they make daily on behalf of their children: getting them to practice and games, making sure they're prepared with water, sunscreen, uniforms, warm clothes, and helping them over the rough spots when things don't go as planned. A big thank you also to all of our coaches and our technical staff for all of the hours of work they contribute, helping our players excel at this game. Finally, I would like to thank the Board of Directors for giving me the opportunity to lead this wonderful organization during what promises to be an amazing next few years. It is going to be a busy spring, starting with: College Night on Sunday, April 13 at 4 pm - Louisville Middle School; End of Year Celebration - Thursday, May 8 at 6 pm Louisville Middle School; and Tryouts - May 27 - May 30 from 4-8 pm - Alexander Dawson School. The Trebol Board of Directors has begun a strategic planning process that, when finished, will produce a document and plans that will guide our actions as a club for the next several years. At the heart of this process is the need to stay true to our mission to be a club for all who may want to play soccer while, at the same time, provide opportunities to play at the highest level. I look forward to seeing you all at College Night, the End of Year Celebration, and/or for Tryouts!
Did You Know?... ...there are no off-sides called on a throw-in? ...Off-side only applies if the player in the off-side position is involved in the play, by touching the ball, or are in a position to make a play. If a shot is taken, any player offside that gets a rebound is considered off-side when the ball was played, and, therefore, the goal is disallowed? ... A pass back to the keeper from his/her teammate cannot be touched by the keeper's hands. A failed attempt to clear the ball that goes to the keeper can be picked up. If a player passes back to the keeper with their foot and the keeper touches it with a hand, an indirect free kick is awarded kick from the spot the keeper touches the ball. If there is not enough space for ten yards, then defending players must set a wall on the goal-
Sincerely, Jon Esler Executive Director, Trebol Soccer Club
