CAMP DIRECTOR
In his first five seasons as the Greyhound head man, veteran coach Bob Bartolomeo (pronounced BART-uh-luh-MAYoh) has taken UIndy from an also-ran to a Division II power. The Hounds are coming off three straight Great Lakes Valley Conference titles while compiling 29 wins and two NCAA playoff berths in the past three years. Twice voted the GLVC Coach of the Year by his peers, Coach “Bart” has amassed a 42-16 (.724) record, including a stellar 22-1 mark in the conference play, since taking the job in November of 2009. UIndy improved two whole games in his first season at the helm and has upped its winning percentage nearly every year since. Bartolomeo’s teams have also excelled in the classroom, as nine Greyhounds have collected Academic All-America® honors, three have garnered GLVC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year nods and 83 have taken academic all-conference accolades. Last season, the Hounds (9-2) captured their third consecutive GLVC trophy, running through the league with a 7-1 mark. The season was highlighted by a thrilling 36-33 quadruple-overtime win versus Saint Joseph’s in week nine. The nationally-televised event was witnessed by 6,000-plus fans at Key Stadium and thousands more on CBS Sports Network. For the season, Bartolomeo’s defensive unit once again proved to be one of the best in Division II, ranking third in the nation in passing defense (139.5 ypg), 12th in total defense (291.5 ypg) and 12th in scoring defense (17.7 ppg). In 2013, the Greyhounds racked up a schoolrecord 10 regular-season wins before falling to eventual national-quarterfinalist West Texas A&M in the first round of the playoffs. Along the way, UIndy spent the entire season in the American Football Coaches Association Division II rankings, peaking at No. 10 on Nov. 18 to set a new program high. With 35 years of experience, primarily in central Indiana, Bartolomeo has coached at nearly every level, from high school to Division II to Division I bowl games.
CAMP PHILOSOPHY
The UIndy Football Camp offers you the chance to enhance your individual skills in a team atmosphere. You’ll learn fundamentals that will make you a championship player on a championship team. An experienced camp staff will emphasize fundamentals of position play in a non-contact camp. Helmets are needed, as it will be a helmets-only practice. Campers will be grouped according to position; each is assured of technical one-on-one instruction. Also, since football is recognized as a team sport, each camper will be required to complete several drills within a team concept.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Campers need to bring gym shoes, turf cleats, helmets, and athletic wear; Only QBs need to bring footballs. Bring gym shoes in case of lightning. We will practice in our indoor facility.
