Project location: Alta Verapaz, Guatemala; Izabal, Guatemala; and Suchitepéquez, Guatemala. The project area consists of seven different farms ( Palmeras, Bello Horizonte, Río Frio, El Horizonte, Asunción, Los Patos, and Concepción) comprising discrete areas located in two different regions of Guatemala. The farms situated in the North of Guatemala along the Atlantic Coast are located in the Departments of Izabal (Bello Horizonte and Río Frio) and Alta Verapaz (Concepción). The farms situated in the South of Guatemala along the Pacific Coast are located in the Department of Suchitepéquez (Palmeras, Los Patos, Asunción, El Horizonte).

The rubber tree plantations will serve as a buffer zone and biological corridor for the natural forests and areas of High Conservation Value that are located within and next to the project area.

Validation Conclusion: The review and cross-check of explanations and justifications in the final PDD dated on 26 January 2014 with sources detailed in the report have provided AENOR with sufficient evidence to determine the accomplishment of all stated criteria of the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard v.2. The summary of Climate, Community and Biodiversity benefits that will be generated by the project included on the cover page of the PDD is accurate. In opinion of AENOR, the project meets all relevant requirements for the CCB Standards. Hence, AENOR is recommending the project for registration by CCBA.
