Validation Scope: The Rainforest Alliance has validated that Global CO2 Reduction, Inc.'s Northern Ontario Forestry Offset Pilot Project design is in compliance with the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance Standards, Second Edition. This independent third-party validation covers an afforestation project on an area of 45 hectares of abandoned agricultural land in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada. The project area boundary is located within a groundwater well head protection area and is owned by the municipality of Kapuskasing. The goal of the project is to promote forest restoration of abandoned agricultural land to a jack pine (Pinus banksiana) and white willow (Salix alba) plantation. The project has estimated its net climate, community, and biodiversity benefits over the 75 year project length..
