[email protected] Versailles Baptist Church exists to glorify God by helping people Decide to follow Christ, Devote to spiritual maturity, and Demonstrate their faith to others. Maine Mission Trip Versailles Baptist sent a fourteen-member team on mission to Maine earlier this month, but the team was really made up of all of you who participated by going, donating items, or praying. Whatever part you played was integral in the ministry that took place during the time our team was in Maine and hopefully what will take place as a result of the Lord working through us. To remind you, Maine is only 3% evangelical, which by International Mission Board definitions is only one percent away from being considered an unreached people group. Catholicism previously was dominant, but now the people of Maine generally hold to a “spiritual humanitarianism.” This state is filled with friendly people who are almost a generation removed from any type of church involvement. We were able to partner with two different churches, Solid Rock Church in Rockland and Crossroads Community Baptist Church in Lincolnville. It was a week of ministering with wonderful people in a beautiful setting. The overall focus of this trip was to help these two churches build positive relationships with people in their area. While the people of Maine are friendly, they are skeptical of churches, so we worked to reverse this through projects, interactions, and conversations. Some of the many ways our group was on mission in Maine:
We surveyed a local apartment complex and other homes for school supply needs and gave out thirty backpacks filled with school supplies with Solid Rock Church at a Kids Carnival we put on.
Filled ten backpacks that were given to teachers to use for needy students with Crossroads Church,.
Provided and filled seven backpacks with food for Crossroads Church to use as a weekend backpack ministry for needy students.
Assembled and delivered a basket of snacks to Lincolnville City Hall with Crossroads church.
Fellowshipped and led Sunday worship services for Solid Rock Church,.
Assembled and distributed care packages to downtown businesses in Rockland.
Planned and hosted a Ladies Night Out for 32 women with Crossroads Church.
Completed various projects and repairs at the missions house where we stayed.

As we look to the future and our ministry with Solid Rock Church and Crossroads Community Baptist Church please pray for several specific things. Both churches are now in need of a pastor. The church planters Sam and Joan Bennett are retiring from Solid Rock, and Crossroads' pastor passed away a year ago. Pray that God would send these two congregations a pastor soon and strengthen their current leadership during this time. Both churches are also seeking a permanent place to worship. Thank you to all who supported this first trip to Maine, and your continued prayers for these sister churches are extremely appreciated. Jonathan Berry
