Volunteer Orientation at Guttman How to Become a New York Cares Volunteer How to use this guide: We are really excited to have you start volunteering on New York Cares projects. We have created this guide to help you register with New York Cares. This document utilizes actual screen shots corresponding with the New York Cares registration process. On each page you will see sample responses along with colored text boxes. The red boxes include required information and the black boxes include helpful hints. When you register as a New York Cares volunteer you should use this guide for support. This is a 2 step process. First you will create a New York Cares account and complete your volunteer information. The second step is to register for the orientation specifically for the students at Guttman Community College. You can start the registration process at www.newyorkcares.org/user/register. After completing your account you will be able to register for the Volunteer Orientation at Guttman.

We ask that you enter accurate information while filling out this form, but you can follow our hints in the black boxes for some shortcuts!
Make sure to list your Occupation as “Guttman Student,” your Title as “Guttman Student,” and your Company as “Guttman Community College.”

To register for the Volunteer Orientation at CCNY you can either go directly to bit.ly/ Orient_Guttman or follow the guide below.
Once you complete your Volunteer Information Form, you will be brought directly to our Public Orientation page. The Guttman Orientation will not be on this list.
Go to the New York Cares Homepage at www.newyorkcares.org or select the logo in the left hand corner.
When you select “Search Now,” you will be brought to the Search Projects page

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and in the “Search Project Code” box enter Guttman. This will bring you to the Volunteer Orientation at Guttman page.
Select “Reserve Spot” and you will get a pop up asking “Do your really want to sign up for this orientation?” Select OK and you will be brought to a confirmation page with the details of the orientation.
