Volunteer Opportunity The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region, 1122 Green Street, Hbg, PA 17102
Give Back and Help Feed the Hungry! Did you know that The Salvation Army (TSA) Harrisburg Capital City Region provided 79,889 food assists to the community last year? Through TSA’s partnership with the Harvest food donation program, food that would otherwise have gone to waste at area restaurants is collected and used in TSA’s food assistance programs. These donations mean that TSA’s funds can go farther and more can be done for those in need. All Harvest donations are collected by volunteers using their own vehicles. We are always in need of new drivers and will provide training and support as needed. Needed Immediately: Reliable, volunteer drivers to join our team in picking up weekly food donations for TSA feeding programs. Volunteers should have a valid PA Driver’s License.
East Shore Routes Currently AvailableRoute 1: Pick Up Site: Marshall Math and Science Academy, 301 Hale Avenue, Harrisburg PA 17104 Pick Up Time: Monday mornings Approximate Time Commitment: 20-30 minutes* Route 2: Pick Up Site: Bob Evans on Eisenhower Blvd, 771 Eisenhower Blvd, Harrisburg Pick Up Time: Wednesdays, currently mid-morning (can be flexible w/ pickup time) Approximate Time Commitment: 30-45 minutes* Route 3: Pick Up Site: Airport Café at Harrisburg International Airport & Highspire Travel Plaza on Industrial Drive, Middletown Pick Up Time: Wednesdays, currently mid-morning (can be flexible w/ pickup time) Approximate Time Commitment: 1 hour* Substitute Drivers: We currently have a team of dedicated volunteers that pick up weekly food donations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. From time to time back up drivers are needed to fill in as a substitute driver when our current team of volunteer drivers are unavailable or need a break (as many have been serving in this capacity for 4 years). If you have interest in being on-call as a volunteer driver for an existing route, please contact us for more information.
