Walrus Classroom Newsletter September 12, 2016 Ms. Renee and Ms. Alma
[email protected] Walrus FamiliesStudents continue working from their work plans. If students have stayed on track with their plans and have demonstrated safety, respect (for self, others, and classroom), and responsibility (for self)- then we walk over to Koob’s Nature Center on Fridays. The students enjoy exploring at Koob’s and it’s a wonderful incentive. We introduced Spelling this week and did lessons on the Geometric Cabinet. I continue to give refresher mini-lessons on static and dynamic math. We finished listening to Bach’s Concerto 2. The students found the composition upbeat and energizing and have been able to discriminate some of the featured 77 instruments. The students were excited to attend the APEX assembly and are looking forward to the Fun Run. Our assigned coach, Jurassic Jeff, has been visiting our classroom every day to go over leadership characteristics like Learning and being Engaged and helped students pick out a team name. The students voted on the “Wild Walruses”. rt Homework will go home every Monday in an aqua folder starting this week and will be due on the following Monday. I understand that our students are involved in extracurricular activities, therefore this allows them extra time to complete homework. Weekly homework includes: Math, Spelling, Rosetta Stone, and a Reading Log. Our head room parent is Ms. Jamie and our co-room parents are Ms. Titiana and Ms. Robyn. Thank you to all the parents that have expressed their interest in helping. We will keep you in the loop of events to come and help needed.
“It is necessary for the teacher to guide the child without letting him feel her presence too much, so that she may always be ready to supply the desired help, but may never be the obstacle between the child and his experience” Maria Montessori
