Make It and Take It Parents and students joined staff for a creative night at Indiahoma School this last Tuesday. The event kicked off with a hot dog meal. Hot dogs were grilled by our own Miss Ketchum and Mrs. Boss pictured below right. After a brief meeting with words from Superintendent/Principal Voegeli, parents set off to create an educational tool they can use to teach their children at home. Students were treated to movies and computer games while parents enjoyed an educationally stimulating activity without interruption. We would really love to see more participation next year as the numbers help our school. We look forward to seeing you next year!

Indiahoma Technology Education Turns On the Wind Power Mr. Wood’s tech ed classes recently completed a project on wind power. Students studied wind turbine energy and the design of the turbines. They then engineered their own turbines. Teams worked together to come up with an original design. The teams used trial and error and problem solving to change their designs during the process. Mr. Wood sent the finished pieces to Oklahoma Christian University Baugh Wind Design competition. The team “Killer Wind” won the “Most Balanced Design” category. The award is determined by considering the mass of the materials used, the complexity of the construction, and the system performance. “Killer Wind” had the most consistently successful turbine design in all considered categories. The team received a $50.00 science supply gift card toward their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) program. The students on the team are all seventh grade students. The “Sneaky Breeze” team was awarded the “Most Cost Effective Construction.” In addition to the Wind-Energy efficiency, young engineers are encouraged to use resources efficiently The “Sneaky Breezes use the most cost-effective construction techniques and materials. This is a very important concept in the Engineering Industry. The students of “Sneaky Breeze” are 8th & 9th graders.
