Two Well-Loved Faculty Members Saying Good-bye to Indiahoma School All good things must end,, but that doesn’t make it easy to say farewell. We have been very blessed with the teaching talents and caring personalities of Mr. Kirk Givens and Mrs. Brenda Strong for many years. Mr. Givens is an alumni of Indiahoma School. He graduated here in 1973. Both of his daughters, Amber and Rebecca graduated from Indiahoma High as well. Mr. Givens has taught for 40 years, 22 in Indiahoma and 18 at Central Junior High in Lawton. He has coached basketball, football, tennis, and baseball while teaching science, driving a bus and even serving as athletic director and dean of students. He also served on the school board for six years, being president for 4 of those years. Although this is the second time for him to retire (the first time he just shifted to part time and then returned to full) he will not be sitting it out altogether. Lawton Christian School will have the honor of calling him a part-time faculty member next year. Mrs. Strong has taught for 25 years, 11 of those at Indiahoma. Mrs. Strong speaks of her career: The years in Indiahoma are the best years of my career. I have taught approximately 800 students, and will truly miss the students. Each one is unique and memorable in their own way. I will miss staff, administration and parents at Indiahoma. I will still be around teaching at Monday Camp, possibly substituting next year, spending time with my grandkids and traveling in the future, but I will always be a teacher at heart. This means that I cannot resist the urge to tell running children in Wal-Mart that we walk-not run. I would like to thank the staff, administration and students for making my reception memorable and fun….AND for putting up with me for 11 years! The clock was thoughtful, beautiful and perfect! We can never replace these precious people, but we wish them well in their new adventures in life. We will try to follow the good Dr. Seuss’ advice: “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” Plan for the End (of school) May 12: FFA banquet, 6:00 apm May 14: Baccalaureate, 8:00 pm May 16: Elem. awards assembly, 12:30 pm May 16: High school awards assembly, 1:45 pm May 16: 8th grade graduation, 8:00 pm, auditorium, followed by art show in library May 16: G/T field trip, Altus May 17: Art show, library May 18: Last day of school May 18: PreK graduation, 9:00 am, auditorium, Kindergarten graduation, 10:00 am May 18: Senior graduation, 8:00 p m, gym

Ms. Runyan’s Financial Literacy Students Do Well in Stock Market Game Ms. Runyan's Indiahoma 7th Grade Personal Finance students competed in the Oklahoma Stock Market Game. In the game, each team is given a hypothetical $100,000 to invest in the stock market. The teams then research companies and buy stocks using the companies ticker symbol just like the real deal. The game has two sessions; one in the spring and one in the fall. Indiahoma students were able to wisely invest their funds and take 1st place in our region for both sessions. Our region includes schools south of I-35 and west of I-44. The Indiahoma spring team rose to victory taking 3rd place overall, statewide. This included over 450 teams ranging from grades 4th thru 12th. Winning teams were treated to an awards ceremony and luncheon at the Federal Reserve Bank in Oklahoma City.
