Westfield Athletic Booster Club Meeting Minutes December 9, 2013
Present (10): Brenda Jordan, Andy Tebbe, Nellie Beam, Bonnie Verhoff, Paul Leahy, Jeff Bredensteiner, Ernie Crawford, Shannon Russell, Debbie Harrison, Doug Luce and Beth Ellis nd Motion to Approve October meeting minutes –; Bonnie Verhoff; Nellie Beam 2 motion. All approved. President’s Report – None Coaches Report – Cheer – Coach Ellis reported that the Winter Team has been selected with 30 girls for JV and Varsity with 2 Rocky’s and a manager. They have been heavily involved in Community Service with the Amanda Strong Foundation with a silent action for the Girl’s Basketball Team. The Football Cheer team helped light the Westfield In Lights. Treasurer’s Report – The WABC group would like to see a yearly budget along with all debits and credits for each account when the Treasurer submits the monthly reports. Ernie Crawford has offered to help with financial reporting. The group requests a more detailed financial plan. WHS – Andy Tebbe Purchases for our fall success will be in the $10,000.00 range – including Football rings for players, managers and coaches. Football T-Shirts for conference and tournament runs. Boys Cross Country t-shirts also. Need to discuss ways to supplement paying for these expenses – possible seeking donations from businesses. Booster club would need to lead this. Highlights from the Winter Sports – Boy’s Basketball will reschedule 3 games due to Football success. st Boy’s and Girl’s Basketball teams will play at Banker’s Life on December 21 . Girl’s Basketball is ranked #8 and off to a 6-0 start. They defeated conference foes Noblesville, HSE and Jeff Boy’s Swimming – Ranked #10 and doing well Girl’s Swimming – Ranked # 21 and doing well Wrestling – Ranked #10 and undefeated at 9-0 dual matches. Won the Shamrock Duals this past weekend and will compete against Noblesville at home on Tuesday. Spirit Club Reports
Boy’s Basketball – This club is now called the Fast Break Club. Lori Tebbe is President. Team will do the donation letters again this year. The club is working with Chili’s to be open later after certain games on Friday’s. You would need a voucher to get a discount. Swimming – Sheryl Ingram presented the budget to Bill Davis and introduced Jane Kenney as a co-chair for the spirit committee.
Committee Reports
Scholarship– Andy Tebbe and Bill Davis will update the form to include # of years that the applicant’s family has been a member of WABC. The rubric will be update with this. Old Business – Gaming License – Brad is forwarding Officer Information to the state.
New Business
Election of Officers – Brenda Jordan stepped down from the Secretary position. Officers for 2014 – 2015 are below: Jeff Bredensteiner – President Brad Harrison – Vice President Bonnie Verhoff – Secretary Ernie Crawford – Elected as Board Member, replacing Bonnie Verhoff nd Motion to Approve–; Beth Ellis; Brenda Jordan 2 motion. All approved.
Action Items for January Meeting: All Officers/Board members come to the January meeting with any suggestions on the job The WABC Scholarship form will be reviewed at the January meeting Bill Davis will update the Tax Form with change of officer information All Coaches need to stress to their teams of the importance of parents joining the WABC.
Meeting adjourned @ 7:45 pm th Next meeting will be held Monday, January 13 , 2014 @ 7pm in the LGI room in the high school.
