Long ago , in the the land of Tinga Tinga , there was a huge , fat elephant with big , flappy ears living on the grass land. Living amongst the plains with him were all of his friends , including : Tortoise , Hippo , Tick-bird , Lion , Peacock , Owl and Chameleon. Despite the burning sun shining down onto the plains , the animals played around in the shade .
All but Elephant , he was too upset to play
games - everyone else had a special feature
but him . Lion had a mane , Chameleon had his colours , Tortoise had a shell but Elephant had nothing . Just his big , flappy ears but what could he use those for? Hearing , it
wasn't that special though. He would just like a longer nose so tortoise wouldn't get stuck
anymore . The other problem was that every
time Elephant breathed Tortoise got stuck up his nose and got angry . Sorrowful and
upset , Elephant sat alone in the shade .
Meanwhile , back at the tree , the other animals started to get bored . Tortoise announced , " I'll go find Elephant." "Ok, if you get stuck just call for us , " Hippo mentioned. "Uh!" Tortoise shouted , "it'll take ages, I'm too slow ! " Elephant -
elp , help " Tortoise wailed. Hippo exclaimed , s I think he needs help." "Let's go help him," Owl replied. the animals set off to go help Tortoise . "Ahh help me, " rtoise again "I'm stuck, I'm stuck!" One by one the ried to pull Tortoise out of Elephant's nose. First was en Lion. Next was Owl and Chameleon then finally "Right," said Hippo "I've got a plan, one , two , three
" Yeh , guys it's worked ! " Tortoise yelled happily . " What's going on? My nose is growing. Yes my nose is growing! " Elephant excitedly giggled , " Come here Tortoise . Look I can pick you up and also watch this, I can breathe without you getting stuck ! " Hippo stated " Oh well , should we go and play hide and peek ?" " Yeh that sounds fun ! " Elephant joyfully said .
And everyone ( including Elephant ) went to play hide and peek . It took Elephant a bit of time to get used to his long nose but he was happy that Tortoise didn't get stuck anymore. He didn't like calling it a long nose, he wanted to name it himself. So he and the rest of the animals sat under the shade thinking of names. Lion gestured "What about..." " I've got an idea! ," Hippo exclaimed, " A trunk! " " That's a great idea Hippo," Elephant agreed.
