Dear Parents and Carers Hopefully you have all had a good summer. The children seem well rested and happy to be back. As you will know, next week, the children will be taking part in Bikeability. The sessions will run in the mornings from Monday – Thursday with the children earning either their level 1 or level 2 award by the end of the week. Lunchtimes will be affected by the sessions so Willow will need to bring a packed lunch on Monday and Wednesday and Beech will need a packed lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. You have already completed a form to let the instructors know if you need to borrow any equipment. If your child is bringing their own bike, please ensure it is in satisfactory condition (working brakes, fully inflated tyres etc.) before they bring it in to school. Please also remind children that they must walk their bikes in and out of school. Children can wear appropriate mufti for cycling and should come to school wearing their cycling clothes each day, with school clothes in a bag to change in to after Bikeability has finished. The instructors will go out in light rain so your child will also need weather appropriate clothing and maybe even sun cream each day. We also have two further trips planned for this half-term to enhance the children’s learning experience. On Friday 23rd September, we will visit Cadover Bridge and the Plym Estuary at Saltram to carry out some Geography field work. Children will need to wear mufti, have a waterproof and appropriate, sturdy footwear such as wellington boots or walking shoes. The children will also need a packed lunch, a snack and plenty of drink. If possible, access to a rucksack would enable the children to be hands on when sketching or writing but this is not essential. On Thursday 6th October, we will be visiting Buckland Abbey to learn about Tudor life and, in particular, Sir Francis Drake. Children will need school uniform with a waterproof jacket and a packed lunch for this trip. The total cost for both trips, including transport and the tour and activity at Buckland Abbey is £7.85 which can be paid at www.payyourschool.co.uk by Monday 19th September 2016. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us in school. Kind regards Mr Rose and Mr Owen
