Dear Parents, Hello. Baseball season is almost upon us! We will be holding tryouts for the Boys varsity and junior varsity baseball teams beginning on Saturday March 1st. Unfortunately, baseball is a sport where cuts must be made. With that in mind we will only be keeping approximately 16 players on varsity and JV for a total of 32 players. The team will be selected based on the following criteria; Speed in the 60 yard dash Speed from home to first Speed from first to third and second to home Arm strength Throwing mechanics Fielding mechanics Fielding performance – successful opportunities without error Fielding movement – How well do you move to the ball Hitting mechanics Bunting fundamentals Hitting successes Bunting successes Physical strength Attitude Tryouts will take between 2 & 5 days depending on the number of boys trying out. We will have two separate cuts. Each activity will be graded based upon individual performance. All drills and activities may be altered to accommodate the inclement weather. Players will be compared with other players who play the same or similar position(s). Players will also be evaluated based upon their level of maturity, ability to make a positive contribution to the team, and overall attitude towards the concept of team athletics. The ultimate decision will be up to the coaching staff. If you have questions or concerns, please see Coach Marchand. Please be sure you and your son sign the sheet below. This sheet must be signed in order for your son to tryout. Please return this sheet to Coach Marchand along with all other forms no later than Tuesday March 1st. Sincerely, JD Marchand Varsity Baseball Coach
