WPX Energy specializes in producing natural gas, natural gas liquids and oil from non-conventional resources such as tight-sands and shale formations. We have three decades of experience in our industry.
We’re based in Tulsa, Okla., with a regional office in Denver. Highlights include:
At year-end 2012, we had total proved reserves of 4.65 trillion cubic feet equivalent. We also have 16,600 gross remaining undrilled domestic locations on a 3P basis. Today, we produce more than 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. Our gas production last year was 1,105 MMcf per day. Oil and natural gas liquids also represent 20 percent of our total volumes. We produced 47,000 barrels per day of these liquids last year and grew our oil production in the Bakken Shale by 98 percent. Previously, WPX Energy was a wholly owned subsidiary of Williams. We became a separate, independent company at year-end 2011. We are included in the S&P 500 Index.
