Newfield News 14th October 2016 Dear Parents/Carers Thank you for all your support last week. We are pleased that School routines returned back to normal so quickly and are all busy completing learning and activities that are scheduled up to Half Term. Attendance – Please ensure you call the School Office, first thing, if your child is going to be off school that day, so that we can record on the School Register. We will be sending out letters after Half Term to parents/carers where child’s attendance has fallen below 90% this term. We are pleased to let you know that out Catering Team have been nominated for the ‘LACA West Midlands Catering Team of the Year 2016’. They will be attending a Gala Dinner and Awards tonight at the Chateau Impney. We wish them luck. World Food Week - W/c 17th October we are supporting the World Food Programme during World Food Week from 17th – 21st October. We will be backing their project, which aims to provide free school meals for less fortunate school children in Kenya. The Catering Team will be putting on a menu of ‘international’ dishes throughout the week to show students the different tastes and cultures that are key to the countries across the globe that the World Food Programme supports. We have attached a copy of the menu for your information. Notice from Halesowen Neighbourhood Policing Team - West Midlands Police would like to request your support in promoting respect and consideration for others during Halloween and Bonfire Night. Most issues reported often relate to firework misuse and trick or treating pranks, and they appreciate your co-operation in helping to promote positive messages at this time of year to help keep yourself and others, especially the elderly, safe. The Halesowen Community Police will be hosting an assembly after Half Term to talk about fire safety and Bonfire Night. Primary Admissions 2017/18 - Don’t forget closing date for primary admissions for 2017/18 is on 15th January 2017. If you know of anyone with a child due to start school September 2017, please ask them to give us a call to arrange an individual visit. Year 6 parents please note closing date for secondary admissions for 2017/18 is 31st October 2016, please ensure you have completed your application. Do you have an afternoon spare a week? Do you like the outdoors? If you are interested in volunteering at Forest School at Newfield Park, please contact the Office. e-safety awareness for parents – we will be hosting e-safety awareness sessions after half term.
