Dear Parents, We are already nearly at half term and the time has absolutely flown by! This week a panel consisting of Governors and Diocese representatives made a significant leadership appointment at The Holy Family School. We are all very pleased to welcome Mrs Worton-Geer as our new Deputy Head Teacher and I personally look forward to working closely with Mrs Worton-Geer on our strategic school development planning. This week we celebrated CAFOD harvest fast day. Children arrived at school in their bright clothes and through this we raised £188.70. The money raised will go towards supporting communities in Bolivia to be self-sufficient through ensuring they have the knowledge, skills and tools to grow enough food to feed themselves. To enable this, identified communities will be provided with seeds and essential training in farming methods including how to build greenhouses, which is wonderful because it will empower these communities and leave a lasting legacy. Thank you all so much for supporting CAFOD, in making this wonderful initiative a reality. I can also now confirm that the 35 boxes of basic essentials our school community collected for Refugee Help were safely delivered to the collection point in central London last Saturday, and that they contributed to a total of 1500 boxes, which have been shipped to Lebanon. Again, thank you all so much and a big thank you to Mrs Worton- Geer for co-ordinating these events. I feel immense pride in our community, we are still in the first half term of the academic year and yet already together we have made a significant contribution to the Common Good. Our children have performed exceptionally well in the inter-school sports events at Stanborough in the last two weeks. In the girls Netball matches, The Holy Family girls’ team won 4 out of 5 matches. In Table Tennis (this week) The Holy family girls’ team got through to the final and our boys’ team were 2 points off getting to the final! Fantastic! Well done to all pupils who participated and to Miss Johnson for her co-ordination and organisation of events and to all parents who have supported our pupils with transport to and from these events. Today Year 4 presented their class assembly which shared their learning in Literacy, specifically the use of adjectives and expanded noun phrases. Thank you to Mr Wright, Mrs Duffy, Mrs Jobson for supporting pupils in preparing for this assembly. Well done Year 4, especially Sammy and Filip who both dressed up to play the roles of; Horrid Henry and Perfect Peter. Well done, you were great! Please remember that next Friday is a school INSET day and therefore school will be closed. On this day we are attending a joint INSET at St Edmunds College, Ware. Staff and Governors from across our deanery will come together to attend a special Mass and Mr John Lydon and Maureen Glackin from St Mary’s, Twickenham will lead us all in reviewing our Mission, Vision and Identity. I wish you all an enjoyable and safe half term, I look forward to seeing the children return refreshed and ready to learn. God Bless Ms Stevens 1
