Men’s Opening Serve Coming off a thrilling victory in conference play, the Bullets look to improve to 5-0 in its non-conference schedule today against Messiah. The Series Gettysburg leads the all-time series with Messiah 17-4. The Bullets had dropped four in a row before a victory last spring. Last Meeting Gettysburg clinched a 7-0 win over Messiah before storms wiped out the final two singles contests. The visitors swept doubles play, dropping only one game at the second and third flights, while Terry Keegan and Sebastian Rodriguez combined for a 9-7 win at No. 1. Keegan and Rodriguez each won 6-1, 6-2 at the third and fifth flights, respectively, in singles play. Last Time Out Gettysburg won the final two singles matches in three sets to take down Dickinson 5-4 yesterday. With the team on the brink of defeat, Johnny Nelson and Mike McLaughlin rallied for three-set victories. Nelson won his final two sets for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6, while McLaughlin erased a 5-2 hole in the final set to win 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. The duo also took home an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Scouting Messiah...  Messiah ended a four-match losing streak with an 8-1 over Arcadia last Saturday. The Falcons swept doubles play with the top tandem of Andrew Wismer and Justin Meckley turning in an 8-6 decision. Wismer and Meckley also won at the top positions in singles, the former winning 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 and the latter winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2.

Women’s Opening Serve Gettysburg aims to put an end to its season-high three-match losing streak today with a non-conference tilt against Messiah. Each of the Bullets’ three setbacks have come against teams ranked in the top 15 in the Atlantic South Region.

The Series The Bullets have not lost to Messiah in seven prior meetings. After a five-year absence, the series resumed last year with Gettysburg winning 9-0. Last Meeting Gettysburg swept Messiah to open the 2009-10 campaign. Katie Taylor and Meghan Kelly ’10 opened the victory with a bagel (8-0) at the top doubles spot. Taylor also notched a straight-set win at the top singles flight (6-2, 6-4), while Kylle O’Sullivan picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3. Last Time Out Gettysburg dropped a 7-2 decision to Dickinson yesterday. Sophomore Kelsey Boyce factored into both team points, first teaming with Kylle O’Sullivan for an 8-6 win at third doubles. In singles action Boyce posted a 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6. Scouting Messiah...  Messiah downed Arcadia 9-0 last weekend to put a six-match skid to rest. The Falcons handily swept doubles play with Erin Ipsen and Stacey Clark notching an 8-3 win at No. 1. Ipsen and Clark dropped only three games combined at the toptwo singles flights, while Ellen Harpold blanked her opponent at No. 6.
