Game Notes OPENING FACE-OFF Gettysburg opens its 2016 season this afternoon as it hosts the Messiah College Falcons in a non-conference match-up. Today’s contest marks Gettysburg’s earliest men’s lacrosse game in program history. ALL-TIME SERIES Gettysburg holds a 15-0 lead over Messiah in the alltime series that started in 1999. The Bullets have captured the last seven meetings by at least seven goals. LAST MEETING WITH MESSIAH Robby Maddux ’15 scored a career-high seven goals and handed out one assist as Gettysburg piled up 14 second-half goals in an 18-7 win at Messiah last season. Maddux’ seven goals were the most by a Bullet since Brooke Farrell ’99 also scored seven in a 22-1 victory at Swarthmore College on April 24, 1999. All seven of his goals were scored over a 14:38 stretch over the middle two quarters, including four in a row at one point and six in an explosive third quarter in which Gettysburg outscored the Falcons 10-0. All seven of Maddux’ goals were even-strength. Sean Fumai added two goals and four assists for the Bullets while Brendan Morris ’15 contributed two goals and three assists. Tim Brady made five saves over the opening 52 minutes in goal for Gettysburg while Brooks Arnold made six saves in 49 minutes for Messiah. Tyler Goglio finished with two goals and two assists for Messiah. BANNER SEASON Gettysburg is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history last year. The Bullets finished 20-1 after starting the year on a school- and Centennial Conference-record 20-game winning streak. Along the way, Gettysburg won the Centennial Conference title and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The team’s 20 victories were three more than the previous school record. ALL-AMERICANS Gettysburg returns three USILA All-Americans from last season in senior defenseman Geoff Davis, senior midfielder Jameson Smith, and junior long-stick midfielder Chris Palladino. Davis, a Second Team All-American, played a key role in Gettysburg’s stellar defense that allowed just 6.67 goals per game last season, finishing

with 38 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. An Honorable Mention selection, Smith piled up 38 goals and 17 assists a year ago to rank second among the Bullets with 55 points. Palladino was also an Honorable Mention All-American after leading the team in both ground balls (71) and caused turnovers (31).
