FIGURE THIS
he Indianapolis 500 race takes place every year on Memorial Day weekend. At the event, racers drive IndyCars – small racecars that can travel faster than 200 mph! Each IndyCar completes 200 laps around the track, and each lap is 2.5 miles long. That means that, by the end of the race, each car has driven a total of 500 miles. HELP THE RACERS COUNT THEIR MILES How fast can you move your IndyCar around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track? By each line below, you will see an addition problem. Add the numbers together, and write your answer in the square. At the end, add all of your answers and see if you completed enough miles to win the race! 1. 2+3= _____________________________________
5. 20+30= ___________________________________
2. 3+7= _____________________________________
6. 60+40= ___________________________________
3. 7+8= _____________________________________
7. 100+200= _________________________________
4. 10+10= ___________________________________
Now, add all of your answers together. What is your total number of miles?

Indy 500 winners are often seen chugging from a bottle of milk in Victory Lane. The tradition started in 1936 with race winner Louis Meyer, who needed a refreshing drink on a hot day. Someone took a picture of him drinking from a bottle of buttermilk in Victory Lane, and the rest is history!
