drawing with mark! Let’s draw a dragon! They’re pretend creatures (as far as we know!) so we can draw them any way our imagination takes us. Let’s practice this one:
Endangered species Marine turtle Where do I live? In oceans all
across the world, including in the U.S. Why am I threatened? Sea turtles face many challenges, from the environment and from humans. They live for decades, swimming miles and miles in the ocean and facing many hazards before it is time for them to lay their eggs on beaches. Few baby turtles make it into adulthood. In some areas of the world, turtles are killed for their valuable meat, eggs and shells.
Start with basic shapes.

trade and are killed by poachers for their beautiful tusks. Being the largest mammals on Earth, elephants also need much room to roam, and the planet is getting too crowded for them as human settlements encroach on their natural habitats.
“E
ndangered species” is a phrase that is used to describe animals or plants that are in danger of becoming extinct. When a species is extinct, it means that the animal no longer lives on Earth. Often, animals become extinct because of the destruction of their natural habitats, which is where they live. Habitat destruction can happen due to pollution, deforesting, depletion of resources or other man-made and natural hazards. Animals can also become endangered if a new predator or species is introduced to their habitat, or if they are victims of poachers. Meet some endangered animals:
Now erase some of the lines as shown. Add more detail like stripes. It also adds dimension to your drawing!
Now it’s your turn!
Tiger
There are endangered species all over the world, and some may even be close to home. Want to search for endangered species in your state? The homepage of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Endangered Species Program is a great place to start. Go to www.fws.gov/endangered/ to search through a database of endangered species, find the latest conservation and preservation news, and find out about endangered species that live near you. After you’ve done your research, write your findings in a short paragraph, or draw a picture of a species you just learned about in their habitat.

Why am I threatened? When
humans tear down forests for new cities, roads, bridges and industry, tigers pay the price. Tigers need large forests to roam and hunt in, and their habitats are quickly disappearing. When tigers are so close to humans, they are also killed to protect livestock and poached for their valuable furs. photos by stock.xchng
