11 January 2017 Dear Parents/Carers SPRING TERM CLUBS The current list of clubs available to our pupils this term can be seen below. Clubs annotated Y in the permission slip column require a permission slip (please find attached); for those annotated N, pupils can just turn up for the club without written permission. If an asterisk appears next to the name of the club, please read the additional information (at the foot of the list) before signing up. With reference to the permission slip, could all parents/guardians please make sure that you fill in the information about how your children will get home after the clubs. Naturally we are keen to avoid any misunderstanding as far as this is concerned. If your child starts a club and no longer wishes to attend, could you please ensure that they tell me and the adult running the club that this is the case, as this may free up a space for another child. Please note that while we try to find different activities for children to do in the event of poor weather, this is not always possible, and so there is a chance that clubs may be cancelled in such instances. If this is the case, a text will be sent out at the earliest opportunity. We will endeavour to let you know by 2.00 pm if this is the case. For outdoor clubs such as football, the club will still go ahead in mild rain, as I believe it is important to accustom children to playing in different conditions. Therefore, in rainy weather, please plan for picking up wet and muddy children! Towels and/or a change of clothes are advised upon collection in such instances. All clubs have a limited number of places available, so I would advise all pupils to return their forms as quickly as possible in order to maximise their chance of gaining a place. The gardening club, fencing club and tag rugby club have an especially exclusive number of spaces available. Should there be too many pupils requesting to attend a club, places will be given on a first come, first served basis. If I receive an influx of replies on the same day, then names will be drawn out of hat to decide who attends the club. Unless you hear back from the school, please take it that your child has a place in their chosen club(s). Homework Club is on after school every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and must be booked weekly in advance. Booking forms are available from our website or the School Office. Unless otherwise informed, after-school clubs will start from Thursday 12th January 2017, with the exceptions of Homework Club, which is already running. Yours sincerely,

Mr J Stachowiak (PE teacher)

Homework Club

* Football club and girls’ football In the interests of safety, if attending an after-school football club, please ensure that your child brings shin pads and appropriate footwear on their training day. Studs are advised if the field is damp. Following a school sports survey, a football club for girls will be trialled this term. This does NOT mean that girls cannot sign up for the regular football clubs, but as I am expecting a high volume of interest, I am asking that girls choose whether they would prefer to join the girls football club or the regular club for their year. ** Tag Rugby Please read the attached sheets (Year 5 and 6) for further information on the tag rugby club. *** Multi-sports The Multi-sports club gives children the opportunity to try lots of different sporting/fitness activities. Activities range from athletics, dodgeball, rounders, tennis, basketball and more. It’s the perfect club for anyone who loves sport/exercise, but wants to try something new each week!

TAG RUGBY I am excited to announce that we have been given a fantastic opportunity to run a tag rugby club alongside RFU Accredited Coach, Stuart Gallagher (Rippa Rugby) and his coaching team, for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. The usual cost of a place on Stuart’s club is £5 per child, per session. However, to make the club as accessible as possible to our children, I have decided to part-fund each child’s place using money from the P.E. budget. This means that children wishing to join the club will only have to pay £1 per session. A payment of £5 should be made to Stuart on the first night of the club, which will pay for your child’s place up until half term. If wishing to continue attending, a second payment can be made after half term. Please note that the club is open to both boys and girls. In fact, I am really wanting to get a mix of both genders, as we are hoping to take a team to compete in local tag rugby competitions, and in order to do this, we need a squad with at least four boys and four girls. If your child is interested in taking up this excellent opportunity, then please return the attached club form as soon as possible. The club is strictly limited to fourteen spaces, which will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, although the first four boys and girls will receive special priority. If there is significant interest, then I will look into organising a tag rugby club on the Haymoor field for next term, with more spaces. With so few spaces available, I am looking for children who are committed to turning up each week, trying their best, learning new skills and having fun. A desire to represent the school in local competitions would also be ideal. IMPORTANT: The tag rugby club is run by Stuart Gallagher and his coaching team on the field at Canford Heath Junior School and children will be training with students from Canford Heath. I have arranged transport in the school minibus to Canford Heath Junior School with Mrs Laishley (P.E. Leader at Canford Heath Junior School), which will be leaving Haymoor straight after school on Fridays. However, children will need to be picked up from Canford Heath Junior School after the club, as there is no transport back to Haymoor. Yours sincerely,

Mr J Stachowiak (PE teacher)
