Positive Commands using Rebellious Verbs Let’s look first at the rebellious verbs for positive commands that you use with “tú,” “usted” and “ustedes.” The best way to learn this is to give you a chart, and for you then to begin working with these through the use of Retention Cards, until you get used to them. On the next page you’ll see the chart for the most important verbs that are rebellious for positive commands. If there is a star (*) beside the word then it is not rebellious in that person.

These are the most common of the rebellious commands. One helpful thing about the "usted" and "ustedes" forms is that they are identical to the use of the "present subjunctives" that you learned way back in the Intermediate Level. You will notice that "hacer" is "haz" with "tú." I have been using that throughout a large part of the course to tell you to "do" something. Now you understand where that "haz" was coming from. One more thing; if a verb ends in "car" then the command ending for "usted" is "que" and for "ustedes" "quen." The verbs with the (*) are normal. For example...

To make negative commands, simply use the same thing that you use for verbs after expressions of desire, need, doubt, emotion and uncertainty, and put “no” in front of it.
